Preston Paperboy
London, United Kingdom
Born in England, Preston studied architecture at Brighton University, but upon graduating, shifted career-paths to focus his creative energy on pursuing his passion of creating art.
Preston, who works under the pseudonym “Preston Paperboy” is a self-taught painter who combines tenets of portraiture and expressionism with a street art sensibility. Working in-between the lines of realism & expressionism, his work employs the use of negative space, motifs, sketches & fine details to part-fill an open narrative - exploring love, loss, envy, consumerism and all that makes us human.
The distinct “Smiler” logo, featured on all Preston’s work, is a nuanced signature that represents his growth as an artist - the sad smile and tear a nod to his past and his ongoing battle with depression - the $$ eyes a reminder to not let greed cloud his vision - and the lines overhead a symbol of the light and peace he’s found on his artistic journey.
