Sheila Wallis

Sheila Wallis was born in Derry City in the north of Ireland and now lives and works in London. Her artistic talent has been recognized throughout her career. She was awarded a Master’s Degree in 2014 at the City and Guilds of London Art School, where she also won the Principal’s Prize.
Her skill earned her further accolades, including the Threadneedle Prize and the Winsor and Newton Painting / Watts Gallery Painting Prize in 2009. Additionally, she has twice won the ING Discerning Eye London and South East regional prize, in 2019 and 2021.
Sheila brings the expertise of a traditional figurative artist to contemporary and historical subject matter. Image-making is her true passion. Her wide-ranging interests center on exploring the full potential of painting and drawing. This interest manifests in various ways, from exploring the artistic power of X-Ray imaging to reinterpreting archival materials and photojournalistic sources.
