FAQs

  • What is a social art marketplace?

A social art marketplace is a peer-to-peer platform that specifically focuses on buying and selling art and connecting artists and art enthusiasts as part of a wider art community. Artfeed merges social network features with the credibility of an art marketplace, offering artists a one-stop platform to engage with a relevant audience.

  • Who can sell on Artfeed?

Artists need to apply to sell their artwork on the app. Those approved by Artfeed’s panel of experts will be able to sell on the app. As the marketplace is curated, artists are selected to be on it by our panel. Successful artists can expect to hear from us within 21 days of registering an account on the app. Due to the high volume of applications, it is a highly competitive process and we will only be in touch with artists who have been successful.

  • Who can buy on Artfeed?

Anyone is welcome to connect and engage with artists and art lovers on Artfeed. A buyer will need to create a profile on the app (this takes less than 2 minutes!) before being able to purchase artwork.

  • How is the quality of the artworks on the platform ensured?

We welcome any artist to apply to sell artwork on Artfeed. Artists will be vetted by our panel of industry experts, ensuring a consistently strong calibre of artwork. Those artists that are successful in their application will be able to sell their work on the app.

  • Will all artworks come with a certificate of authenticity?

If an artwork sold on Artfeed is not signed, it will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist.

  • Will there be physical events to sell and buy artwork in person?

Yes - we recognise the importance of physically exhibiting artwork. Artfeed’s physical events programme will include regular shows and events for the art community to engage and connect in person.

  • What is the commission fee for selling art on the platform?

The commission for artworks sold on the app is a maximum of 20% of the sale price.

Artists will be able to access a reduced rate of commission of 15%, where they introduce 5 collectors. The reduced rate of commission will apply to any sales concluded in the first 12 months following the 5th collector making a purchase on the app.

  • What is the commission fee for selling art at Artfeed's physical events (including offline opportunities presented by Artfeed)?

The commission for artworks sold at any Artfeed physical event or other offline opportunity sourced by Artfeed is 35% of the sale price.

  • Is there a referral incentive for introducing new artists onto the platform?

Yes - artists can earn 1% of any future sales of referred artists (whose applications are successful), indefinitely.

  • Will all artwork posted by artists on the platform be required to be exclusive to Artfeeed?

No - approved artists are to consign 2 pieces of artwork to Artfeed on a rolling 6 month basis. All other pieces may be non-exclusive and such artists will have the freedom to post and sell as many artworks as they wish, on the app.

If an artwork is sold (not on Artfeed) to a buyer connected with the artist on Artfeed, the artist is to honour the relationship and pay the commission on that sale to Artfeed.

  • Can the buyer negotiate the price of an artwork with the artist?

Yes, buyers may be able to negotiate the price of an artwork with the artist directly through the app via its ‘make offer’ feature.

  • How does the payment process work on the platform?

The payment process will be handled through Stripe (a secure third-party payment processing platform) that is fully integrated into the app. The buyer will be able to complete the transaction and make the payment directly on the app.

Once a sale is finalised, the buyer will pay funds to Artfeed. Artfeed will remit net funds to the artist within 28 days of delivery of the artwork.

  • Is there a returns policy for art purchased on the app?

A buyer has 14 days to request a return and a further 14 days from the date of request to return the artwork. The cost to return the artwork will be for the buyer unless otherwise stated. Any artwork will need to be returned in its original packaging and in the same condition as it arrived. Artfeed will process the refund via the original payment method once the artwork has arrived at the artist in the same condition as when it was delivered to the buyer.

  • How long does it take for a refund to be processed?

Refunds will be processed via the original payment method as soon as the artwork has been delivered back to the artist. Depending on the processing time of the buyer’s designated bank, it may take a few days before it is visible in the buyer’s account.

  • What happens if the buyer receives damaged artwork or the artwork is lost in transit?

If a buyer receives a damaged artwork or the artwork is lost in transit, they should contact the artist and Artfeed as soon as possible. We will be happy to assess the situation and find the best possible solution.

  • What happens if the buyer receives artwork that does not reflect the description of the artwork on the app?

If a buyer receives artwork that does not match the description on the app, they should contact the artist and Artfeed as soon as possible. We will be happy to assess the situation and find the best possible solution.
