“My practice is driven by a fascination with the luscious, fluid qualities of oil paint. I celebrate this in my paintings with a focus on individual brushstrokes that interweave, merge and overlap with one another. I use the canvas as a site of exploration where layers of colour are built up and the piece evolves organically. My aim is to reach a point of harmony and balance and for the paintings to slowly reveal themselves to the viewer. I am interested in the tension between control and spontaneity and aim to strike a balance between both in my work. When I paint, there is a sense of unpredictability and playfulness alongside my methodical approach, where sporadic decisions interfere with considered ones. I invite the viewer into a vibrant space where they can follow each motion and gesture and be transported into an unseen world.”
